From the Douro wine region, José Maria da Fonseca Domini 2018 is a rich and robust red wine blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa and excellent value at $17. Look for ripe dark cherry, earthy florals, fresh mushroom, fine herbs and toasty oak spice flavours generous and vibrant on the palate. Pour with roast duck.

Food pairings: lamb chop casserole, stuffed breast of veal, roast chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Rich and robust, this is a full flavoured wine, Aromas of currant, raisin and notes of graphite and smoke. Full bodied, with some firm, grippy tannins, and medium + acidity, along with rich ripe fruit and raisin flavours and a hint of smoke on the finish. Decant for at least 30 minutes before serving and enjoy with slow braised meat dishes.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

From the Douro region in Portugal, the Domini 2018, crafted by Jose Maria da Fonseca, offers aromas of sugarplum, blueberry, violet, bread, toasted marshmallow and dark chocolate. Blended from Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Francesa, the wine shows a medium body, good balance and delicious finish. Palate: black plum, blackberry, dried leaf, graphite, cocoa and vanilla. Excellent everyday wine. Enjoy.
