Made from 100% Montepulciano grapes and then the wine was aged for 11 months in oak barrels. A pleasant, smooth, medium- to full-bodied Italian red wine for a great price. Dark fruit aromas and toasty oak. Finishes with black cherries, anise and toasty oak. Pair with grilled meats.

Montepulciano D'abruzzo food pairings: meat lasagna, veal liver with sautéed onions, sausage casserole.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Totally Inviting! Sweet cherry, baking spice, and licorice dominate the nose. This easy going Italian red shows moderate tannins, medium acidity, and overall, a moderate bodied red that is quite a versatile pair. Enjoy with pizza! Tasted Jan 2017 - @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
This is a very pleasant Montepulciano, oaked 11 months in barrels. Very smooth and pleasant. This wine is named Jorio in tribute to twentieth-century Abruzzese poet Gabriele D'Annunzio in tribute to his famous work "La figlia di Jorio". - Community Wine Reviews
