Reviews and Ratings
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: A well-balanced red made from old-vine Grenache, Carignan and Syrah, showing a perfumed nose with dark fruit, cassis and slight spice and a palate with ripe cassis, spice, smoke and oak. Tasted Sept 2016
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: This wine is mostly Grenache (60%), Carignan (25%), with a dash of Shiraz. There's no oak, so it would explain the bright amd cheerful quality this wine has. Bright, medium ruby colouration. Aromas of cranberry, blackberry leaves, cassis, and a touch of garrigue (dried herbs). Cranberried dusted with baking spices. It's completely unoaked, but it unloads a lot of spice to counterbalance the abundant fruitiness. The tannin is extremely soft. It is ripe and fleshy, but light acidity too. This wine lacks oomph, but is a bright and inviting introduction to the region. Pair it with grilled mushroom moussaka.
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Luminous dark ruby colour. Raspberry, blackberry, and herbal aromas with some and spice and vanilla notes, The blackberries aroma repeats in the mouth, which is dry, has medium tannins and well balanced acidity. The round mouthfeel has a long finish of juicy black fruit. Pair with savoury dishes of poultries or marinated meats like shish kebob. Score 89. (S.Segard, reviewed Jan. 15, 2017.)
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: A medium bodied slightly purple red blend with 60% Grenache, offering ripe red fruit, medium plus tannins, medium acidity. Tasted Jan 2017. Rated 88/100.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: Aromas of earthiness, dark berries and balanced vanilla. Medium-bodied with soft tannins with cedar and with a bit of spice on the finish. Great sipping wine or pair with lamb, duck or braised beef. (Tasted January 16, 2017)
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: Very savory on the nose. Dried herbs and a forest or earth note, along with red berry (cranberry) and some smoky hints. Smooth tannin, some tart berry on the palate, and some smoke and spice from the oak. Try this with rustic dishes, maybe braised beef, or a pork roast.
Melanie Aubert rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: Raspberry, blackberry, vanilla and spice make up the aromatic backbone of this red blend from southwestern France. On the palate, it is medium-full bodied with grippy tannins and good acidity. The fruit components are more subtle on the palate, with more minerally, earthy, herbaceous, cedar and minty notes coming forward. This would pair well with beef stew or lamb with mint jelly.
This wine is from France's very warm Languedoc region and is created by Jeff Carrel. Grapes for this wine are from 40-year-old vines, and the wine is spicy, black plum, blackberry on the nose and palate. Pair with grilled, gourmet sausages. - Community Wine Reviews
