A zingy, zesty Sancerre from the Loire Valley. Smoky with lemon juice vibrancy, light herbs, bright apple flavours and dusty-dry on the palate. Lean, intense and mouth-watering finishing with a smoky, flinty minerality. It wants oysters, the fresher the better.

Sancerre food pairings: salads, grilled chicken, seafood.

Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Complex, broad, and intense nose touching upon lemon and citrus, wet stone and minerality, and a lick of flint and smoke. A beautiful Sancerre, well fleshed out with texture and mouthfeel. Racy acidity, mouthwatering in nature, boasting layers of citrus and stone flavours that hang around all day in the long finish. Go classic Loire and match with goat cheese or freshwater fish.
Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Jean-Max Roger is a very fresh and minerality driven style of Sancerre that almost tastes more like a classic Chablis, with its fresh acidity and toned-down fruitiness. That being said, stone fruit and some tropical fruit notes are still evident in this Sauvignon Blanc. The lingering length, flinty notes, its medium bodied mouth feel, and the mouth watering acidity all make this wine quite attractive and easy to keep drinking over time. Enjoy with seafood, snails, escargot, and especially ‘drunken mussels’ (cooked in white wine).
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This is fairly subtle as Sancerres go. A clean, subtle nose almost sweet. Herbs, asparagus and lemongrass define the palate. Nicely structured. Soft finish. Serve with spring greens and fresh peas. Tasted June 2019 www.thewineloverskitchen.com
From Jean-Max Roger Cuvée Les Caillottes 2017 is a traditional Sancerre with smoky, fresh pear, flinty mineral and chalky flavours on the palate. Brilliant acidity for food. A great pairing to this smoky, flinty white made with Sauvignon Blanc wine grapes is herbed flatbreads, smoky charcuterie and fresh cheeses. - Community Wine Reviews
