Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This wine was made by Northern Rhône dynamo, Jean-Luc Colombo. His Rhônes are very good and often very expensive... Except this one. His more pricey wines are from Northern Rhône appellations, like Cornas or Côte Rôtie. This wine is a chance to own a little bit of those wines in one blend. Wines labeled Côtes du Rhône are sourced from many different areas - from all over.
Deep, dark ruby colour with fantastic aromatics.
Brooding kitchen spices, coffee, macerated cherry, and plum.
Roasty and dark. Lots of coffee aromas, vanilla, pencil shavings, plum, pepper, bay, and figs.
It's 50/50 Grenache and Shiraz. It is typical of a Northern Rhône grower to put large proportions of Shiraz in the blend. Southern ones tend to have lots of Grenache and other grapes, with Shiraz holding very little sway in the final blend.
Ideal wine for game sausage or cassoulet. Put it with strong washed rind cheese, as well.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Lots of black fruit and fired herbs accompanied by charcuterie, spice and a healthy dose of wood. 91 points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
Jean-Luc Colombo Les Forots (2015) is a 50% Grenache and Syrah red wine blend. Great mouthfeel on this ripe red berry and garrigue flavoured wine from the Côtes Du Rhône. Great value too. - Community Wine Reviews
