Smoky and brooding with big black fruit. Minty cool with a long core of blackberry, cassis and cedar smoke.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Deep notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, licorice, espresso, and tar notes follow through on palate with warm baking spices, mint and chocolate rounding off the long, impressive finish. Tannins are fine grained. Reminds me of Heitz Martha's Vineyard with a touch of the Ben Johnson steroids. 92 Points. (ottawawinejournal.com)
Dressed in the label made famous by the ’63 Mildara Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and nicknamed Peppermint Pattie; this is said to be an attempt to capture the distinctive characters of the ’63; dodging the complex questions that aim creates, this is a high quality Coonawarra cabernet, with blackcurrant, earth, dark chocolate, mint and cedar on the medium-bodied, long palate, tannins and French oak both positive. Drink [until] 2022. Score: 94 Source: James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au
