Bottle size: 750 ml

Natalie's Score: 89/100

A smoky nose with charred black fruit, anise, blackberry and cassis. Very dry, full-bodied with integrated tannins. Finishes long and dry with dark spices. The alcohol is high but it doesn't taste hot or out of balance. Pair with a rare filet mignon.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: pepper steaks, smoky ribs, chicken cacciatore, meat pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This brooding California cab has some youthful grainy tannins but nothing rare red meat can't handle. Deep ruby colour with ripe red berries, black plum, blueberry, chocolate and cedar. Full-bodied with medium(+) acidity. Suggest decanting 1-2 hours. I would like to try this wine in 2-3 years. Easter Sunday roasted lamb might be able to tame this tiger!
Tasted: February 2016
Produced by Joseph Phelps, this is a robust Napa Valley, Californian Cabernet, Classic signature of black fruit and toasty oak. Joseph Phelps is credited with being one of the pioneers of Napa Valley viticulture back in the early 1970s. The 2013 vintage of the Innisfree was aged for 16 months in both French and American oak and includes small amounts of Malbec, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes in the blend. - Community Wine Reviews
