From the Tuscany wine region, 2018 Il Borro 110 20th annata is a dry, full-bodied, rich and juicy blend of 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah produced from biodynamic and organically-grown grapes. Fresh on the nose with ripe blackberry, cola and dark cherry flavours on the palate, tannin are fine-grained and approachable. Good now, but give it a few years in cellar to come together and to start showing its best. The property has a rich wine history dating back to the early 1600s. Il Borro was purchased by Ferruccio Ferragamo in 1993. Several years after acquiring the medieval hilltop village and surrounding 1700 acres, extensive renovations and refurbishing began as did viticultural work. After the launch of the Il Borro label in 1999, the property and winemaking continue under the watchful eye of Ferruccio’s son, Salvatore Ferragamo.

Food pairings: gourmet burgers, BBQ beef long ribs, tourtiere.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
