Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Icellars Estate Winery's Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from the Twenty Mile Bench Wismer Homestead Vineyard, further demonstrates just how exceptional the wines from this boutique winery can be. In its inaugural vintage, this small production (120 cases) wine is beautifully structured with crisp acidity, great exotic and tropical fruit characteristics, with a long and linear finish. Thanks in part to an extra long skin contact (18 hours) at the beginning of the winemaking, it's absolutely chalked full of everything you expect in a premium Sauvignon Blanc. Lean and crisp in style with intense fresh and pungent herbal notes complementing the exotic fruit, tropical fruit, and dried apricot flavours making this a very versatile wine for enjoying with a wide range of dishes from grilled lamb brochettes with lemon and dill, halibut tostadas with yogurt-lime sauce, or lemon-garlic shrimp skewers to name a few great options. Many wine regions that produce top notch Cabernet Sauvignon also have wonderful Sauvignon Blanc, such as Napa Valley, and that's exactly what's happening here with Niagara-based Icellars whom also produce a top notch Cabernet Sauvignon that stands out as one of the finest in Ontario. Tasted May 2018. 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

So pretty and refined. Aromas of tropical fruit (pineapple and passionfruit) along with notes of lemon, spring peas, grass and fresh herbs. Medium bodied, with bright acidity and a balanced, creamy texture showcasing rich fruit, fresh herbaceous notes, and a citrusy finish with a touch of minerality. Enjoy with grilled shrimp or scallops. Tasted in December 2021, 4 years old and still showing tons of vibrancy and freshness.
