Blackberry, blueberry, tar, black pepper and smoke aromas. This is very dark tasting wine, with the blackberry as the prominant fruit in the taste, but the smokiness being very present. The acidity brightens it up a bit. Lots of flavours; a great wine for strong cheeses.

A unique blend of five varieties, this Washington winery has blended some of Southern France's most popular varietals, and Bordeaux's, with that of Northern Italy, and created a big juicy wine with good structure, and balance. Interesting blend from Washington. Deep fruit aromas (cherry, blackberry, currant) and ripe strawberry jam on the nose. Rich, full bodied flavours repeat on the palate. Medium tannin, medium to long finish. Slight pepper and vanilla linger on the finish. Have this with your Sunday roast.

Nov 16, 2014: Medium ruby, slightly candied nose of red/black berry fruit, oak spice, mineral and hint of herbal. Medium bodied, black cherry/sour cherry, blackberry, vanilla, toasty cedar, fennel and mineral flavours. This red blend from Washington is made up of 43% Syrah, 35% Barbera, 9% Malbec, 9% Petit Verdot and 4% Mourvedre.

A goody bag of grape varieties in this wine, all grown on the estate in the Horse Heaven Hills of Washington. Blackberry, leather, spice and a hint of sweetness on the nose. More dark berries, pepper on the palette showcase the syrah in the blend while floral notes give a nod to the barbera. Finish is medium-long and a touch hot. Definitely a roast beef wine!

43% Syrah, 35% Barbera, 9% Malbec, 9% Petit Verdot and 4% Mourvedre - makes for an interesting wine. Pepper notes from the Syrah dominate, along with vanilla, leather and underlying fruit of currant and dried strawberry. The pepper lingers on the finish of this fairly acidic wine.
