Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A full-bodied Washington State Merlot showing prominent plum, anise, vanilla bean and violet aromas. The palate is tangy with pithy and pronounced tannins. This wine could benefit from an hour of decanting prior to serving to smoothen out the tannins. Enjoy with grilled beef burgers. Tasted April 2017 by @sommsosa | besoketastings.ca
Hogue Genesis (2013) is a smooth full-bodied Merlot from the Columbia Valley in Washington. The 2014 growing season was an excellent year for Merlot with grapes ripening fully and evenly. Wine grapes fro this wine were sourced from Wahluke Slope (50%), Horse Heaven Hills (26%), Yakima Valley (21%), Columbia Valley (3%), and Rattlesnake Hills (1%). Wine grapes were de-stemmed, crushed and fermented in stainless steel. The wine was racked and returned to barrels several times and aged for 6 to 12 months in American oak barrels of which 25% were new to impart richness and vanilla aromas. - Community Wine Reviews
