Sexy, hedonistic BC Syrah with all goodness on the nose and palate of smoke, espresso, black fruit and mystery. Full-bodied and supple. A take-me-now wine. If you don't, I will. Finishes with black pepper, violets and longing. Pair with rare steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Gorgeous Okanagan Syrah. Complex, integrated, well-balanced. Rich and densely concentrated ripe red berry and black berry, anise, floral, and inky mouthfeel. Long finish on the palate with a smokey bacon persistence. Would pair well with gourmet grilled cheese with thick cut smoked bacon and 2year aged cheddar or a cedar plank salmon steak and seasonal vegetables. Drinking well on its own. Good value. 92 points. Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Hester Creek’s 2015 Syrah-Viognier is a dry (5 g/l residual sugar) medium-plus bodied, Syrah co-fermented with a small amount of supporting Viognier for setting this wine’s brilliant ruby colour, as well as giving it added lift and an enhanced nose. In fact, the wine has a beautiful, fragrant nose with crushed earthy violets and smoky Madagascar vanilla, dried green herbs and white pepper. On the palate the wine weighs softly with mouth-coating liquid dark cherries, smoky vanilla, espresso coffee, dried herbs and white pepper. Smooth and elegantly structured, it is warming at 13.9% abv, but not sharp. Tannins have a slight grip across the tongue and upper palate and the wine finishes long past the 40-second count with espresso coffee, mild cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg spice from 15 months of 60% American and 40% French oak treatment. Acidity is checked and very much in balance of the wine. Although this wine could hold for a year or possibly more and be just a delightful as it is now, it really is drinking great now. Pair it with roast chicken or a wild-mushroom stuffed veal roast accompanied with cherry compote.
