A stunning BC red wine made from the Syrah grape and a dash of Viognier for a floral lift mid-palate. Aromas of violets, dark plums and smoke. Smooth with a long finish. Pair with rack of lamb.

Syrah food pairings: charcuterie, roast chicken, lamb chops, beef kebabs.

Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

From Hester Creek Estate Winery, a deep, dark ruby Syrah (with a splash of Viognier) elegant, spicy and fragrant with baked brambleberry pie aromas on the nose; dry, full-bodied and fresh with liquid blackberry, black cherry, smoked meat, cocoa, dried wild herbs, cinnamon, clove and white pepper spice flavours with a medium-plus-length finish. Tannins are structured, fine-grained and very approachable now. Tasted September 2021 with a venison osso buco.

The Syrah grapes for this vintage were sourced from the winery's Golden Mile Bench estate and a long-time grower on the Black Sage Bench, the Eagles Nest Vineyard. The Syrah was co-fermented with a small amount of Viognier from the Star Vineyard in Osoyoos. The wine was aged on its fine lees for one year in 60% American and 40% French oak barrels.
