Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A lovely, dry, fresh and intensely fruity Pinot Gris, Hester Creek Estate Winery’s Foundation Series Pinot Gris 2021 is as welcoming on the nose at it is on the palate with orange blossoms, fresh ripe pear, honeyed melon, dried quince, lemon-lime zest with just a hint of spring rain minerality on the finish, wrapped up in fresh acidity and, as always, dangerously drinkable. Tasted April 2022.

No surprise that the 2021 growing season in the South Okanagan was the driest on record, mostly because of the Heat Dome’s record-breaking heat, and was also the warmest growing season since 2015 with over 1700 GDD. The heat led to lower yields, smaller grape clusters and berry size but with a huge concentration of flavours and vibrant aromatics. Grapes were sorted, destemmed and whole berry pressed, and the wine juice was cool settled and racked to stainless steel tanks, with a long cool fermentation period of an average of 28 days at 13°C.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

On the nose, notes of pear with juicy pineapple, honeydew melon, orange zest, a touch of honey, subtle ginger, and mineral notes.

Medium bodied, dry, and zesty on the palate with notes of lime and saline minerality seeping through. The flavours linger.

Try with pan fried fish or with your favourite Summer salad.

Tasted March 2022

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
