Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Character White is always such a happy-go-lucky wine. Easy to love, no pretenses, pretty in the glass and just an enjoyable white blend made for summer. Hester Creek Estate Winery's 2022 Character White blend is made up of two-thirds Pinot Gris with the balance in Gewürztraminer and has medium intensity aromas of fresh florals, citrus, grapefruit zest and a touch of fine herbs on the nose. The wine is dry, medium-bodied with fresh-cut pear, apple, white-fleshed stone fruit, fennel and dill flavours zippy on the palate with medium-plus acidity and a lingering fresh finish. A well-balanced, great value, food-friendly white at $19 to chill and enjoy with friends, creamy cheeses, or lighter style dishes like seafood salads. Tasted July 2023.

The Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer grapes for this vintage were hand-harvested from three vineyards: the Pinot Gris was sourced from the winery's Road 7 Vineyard and Vineyard Manager, Iqbal Gill’s, Road 8 property, and the Gewürztraminer was sourced from the winery's Golden Mile Bench Estate as well as the Gill Vineyard.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Aromas of pear and peach with hints of citrus and saline minerality. Light bodied on the palate, with medium + acidity, bright citrus, and a clean finish. Enjoy with light fish and shellfish dishes, or any spring salads.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
