Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

What an exquisite Cab Sauvignon from Hester Creek Estate Winery's Source Collection. Deep ruby in the glass (almost opaque but still bright) with medium-plus-intensity aromas of blackberry, black currant, brambleberry and dried sweet tobacco leaf, savoury herbs, menthol, crushed stone (gravel?) lavender, violets, sandalwood with a vanilla and orange zesty twist. (after decanting and resting for three days in wine fridge). Dry, medium-plus-bodied with medium-plus juicy acidity, fine-grained pleasantly grippy tannins somewhat drying with a savoury medium-plus-length finish on the palate. Needs a bit more time in bottle to unwind and open up -- better in 2025 or 2026. But if having tonight, do decant for an hour or two and pour slightly chilled (so much fruit on this Cab!) with prime rib from the grill. Overall: Pretty terrific and an excellent quality Cab but needs a bit of time to show its absolute best. Tasted September 2024.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

2022 was a challenging vintage but one that produced exceptionally high quality fruit. Hester Creek's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is a wonderful example of how ripe and balanced Cabernet Sauvignon can be in the south of the Okanagan. While the spring was cooler than expected, the growing season was nice and long allowing the fruit to achieve full maturity, even wither a bit on the vine. The result is an incredibly harmonious Cabernet with great aromatic and flavour complexity. Deep ruby colour, the nose offers fragrant dark fruit, sweet spices, dried dark fruit, cassis, forest floor, and graphite. The palate repeats with dark fruit, spice, and herbs persisting on the long finish. Tannis are super soft and integrated, an important indicator of great terroir and talent. Tasted over two days and day two it was even more enjoyable and harmonious. Enjoy 2025-2035. Decant before serving. Tasted January 2025. 93+ points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
