A full-bodied, luscious has everything wine. Aromas of dark plums and black spice. So everything: want it now please. Pair with fine cuts of meat.

Cabernet Merlot food pairings: braised lamb shanks with rosemary and roasted garlic accents, good quality chocolate.

Reviews and Ratings

Jacky Blisson rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Medium, translucent ruby in colour. Very elegant, restrained nose featuring menthol, tobacco, cedar, marginally ripe cassis and dark cherry, and violet aromas. Medium to full bodied, with fresh acidity, a dense structure, firm, ripe tannins and a long, layered finish. A concentrated core of tart cassis fruit lifts the mid-palate. The oak is well integrated, framing the finish nicely. The overall sensation is of finesse, freshness and balance.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Vanilla, plum, black cherry, white pepper, and cocoa. A very rich, lush aroma. The palate is extremely juicy, with great acidity and medium-low tannins. Quite an exceptional, well balanced wine. If you want to impress your friends, serve them this with a rare steak or prime rib.
Nicole Lewis rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Not just your regular HoP, this Speck Family Reserve, is deep garnet and giving off aromas of ripe cherry, cedar, smoke, mint and sweet baking spice. This is a medium-bodied offering, with medium acidity and soft tannins.

This wine would pair well with savoury sweet spiced pork chops.

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby with a garnet hue, showing it's beginning to age slowly and will rewards another 5+ years of cellaring to further evolve. Stewed plum, leather, under brush, and spice on the nose and palate. An impressive blend of Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, and Merlot. Tasted November 2016. 91 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Carola Price rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Dark cherry red and bright.
Black cherry, cedar, dark chocolate on the nose. Flavours of blackberry, chocolate, pepper and spice but the flavour drops off so quickly. A bit disappointing for such a great producer.
Pair with roast beef and garlic chicken.
