Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Ruby red with a dull garnet hue. Declared as soft, round and spicy on the label. In my experience the 2014 vintage is more full bodied, with medium-plus grippy tannins, medium plus fruit. Blackberry, black peppercorn, plum, and a floral note. Balanced medium acidity and perceived alcohol. Declared 14.5% ABV yet so balanced with big fruit that it doesn’t taste boozy at all. Paired well with safran infused basmati rice and a chicken balti. Great value. Crowd pleasing appeal. Accessibly priced and very approachable. Tasted 2014 vintage in April 2018. 90 points.
This Ben Glaetzer wine delivers amazing quality and taste for the money. Heartland Stickleback 2014 is a great value, robust red wine blend of 46% Cabernet, 44% Shiraz, 5% Grenache and 5% Merlot wine grapes sourced from Langhorne Creek. Lots of ripe dark fruit, spice and a whiff-of-smoke flavours on the palate. Pair with smoky ribs, smoked meat sandwiches or BBQ kebabs. - Community Wine Reviews
