Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Haywire Garnet Ranch 2020 Pinot Noir is enticingly fragrant with aromas of ripe bright cherry and soft dried herbs. Dry and medium-bodied, this PN is a delicious mouthful of liquid dark cherry, blueberry, dried garden herbs, lavender, minty, mocha flavours and mineral notes silky, smooth on the mid-palate with a long, fresh finish. Tannins are fine-grained and just a bit Velcroish. The wine was aged on its lees for 10 months prior to being bottled unfiltered. A beautiful Pinot Noir produced by Chief Winemaker, Matt Dumayne, very approachable now but can easily hold in cellar for three-plus years. Tasted December 2022 with the winery’s suggestion of duck a l’orange.

Located in Summerland, British Columbia, the 320-acre Garnet Valley Ranch is owned and operated by Christine Coletta and partner Steve Lornie. The entire property is certified organic and is also home to a herd of sheep and eight acres of organic vegetables.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
