Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A serious 100% Gamay rosé from Haywire Winery, fragrant with layers of ripe strawberry, raspberry, cream, fine dried herbs and pepper spice flavours balanced with brilliant acidity and velvety with a long finish. Grapes for this vintage were whole cluster pressed to concrete, foudre and stainless-steel tanks and then aged in tank for seven months. We enjoyed it lightly chilled with juicy pork chops from the grill. Tasted February 2023.

Primarily brought up in concrete tanks, the winery indicates that the tanks are "the perfect vessel for the style of wine we aim to make," referring to their cool-climate wines and grape varieties such as Gamay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in a fresh, fruit-forward style that is fuller on the mid-palate.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
