Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Wow! Bright cherry, ripe raspberry, red berry jam, earthy spices and sweet dried tobacco leaf aromas leap out of the glass on this medium ruby Gamay. The wine is dry, medium-bodied with spot-on balanced fresh acidity. Aromas are mirrored on the palate with a kiss of chocolate and a satisfying stony mineral and flinty finish. Tannins are rounded. Serve lightly chilled with charcuterie. Tasted August 2022

The organically farmed Gamay grapes for OCP’s Haywire’s 2019 vintage were sourced from the south-west facing Secrest Mountain Vineyard, a cool climate, high-altitude vineyard 487 metres above sea level. Soils are alluvial, dotted with coarse gravel and layered with sandy loam and limestone. The vineyard was planted in 2000 with several varieties of grapes and conversion to organic farming practices started in 2014.
From the Secrest Mountain Vineyard, Okanagan Crush Pad's Haywire 2018 Gamay is fresh and lifted with bright dark cherry, red berry, savoury fine herbs and pepper spice flavours on the palate. A beautifully, concentrated Gamay, whole bunch pressed and spending its entire life in concrete tanks. Can you say fresh? So good now. - Community Wine Reviews

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
