A juicy, plummy, smooth Merlot from Prince Edward County. Nicely ripe and fleshy. This solar-powered winery is literally off the grid and located between Toronto and Kingston, southwest of Ottawa. Pair this wine with grilled pork chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Aubert rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Harwood Estate is an entirely solar-powered winery in Prince Edward County. Its ruby-red merlot shows glorious black fruit on the nose, and on the palate reveals black cherry, raspberry, plum, leather, and smoke. The tannins are nicely integrated in this delicious medium-bodied red, whose fruit-forward flavours, good acidity and texture make it great for pairing with food. This wine gets bonus points from me because of the sailboat on the label.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Dark ruby-red, rich and flavourful. Plum, cassis and ripe cherry with hints of tobacco leaf, leather and sweet spice. Good acidity and fine tannic structure make this Merlot ideal to pair with roast beef, steak, smoked ribs; also try it with grilled pork chops.
