Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Rarely in the new world wine regions can traditional sparklings impress this much. This wine spent over three years on its lees, half of the grapes underwent elevate in the base wine, and the Western Cape is fantastic for ripening Chardonnay.
The colour is a beautiful deep lemon, with a fine mousse.
The aromas have a deep smokey and honeyed aroma. Rancio, hazelnut, lemon curd, apple juice, and guava.
The flavours are surprisingly fresh for a wine of this age. Lots of lemon/lime, lactic creaminess, toasted nuts, applesauce, honey, and green pear.
It may even continue to cellar well for a further 2-3 years.
This wine is always a fantastic value. Pair it with butternut squash soup and popcorn.
This winery uses the Méthode Cap Classique to make their bubbly. Surely South Africa's best sparkling wine producer: this bubbly offers incredible complexity and depth with great refreshment as well. This wine is a blend of several clones of Chardonnay grapes. About half of the wine was fermented in traditional French oak barrels -- Piece Champenoise. The wine remains on secondary less for 36 months in bottle. This wine was disgorged in October of 2014. - Community Wine Reviews
