Reviews and Ratings
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review: A wonderful full bodied wine. Black current, spice and smoke. Nice long finish with a tanning pull. Tasted April 3/16
Carola Price rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Black pepper and cassis on the nose. Terrific well rounded in the mouth with good balance overall. Again with the cassis notes and some blackberry, plum and chocolate. Pair with duck a l'orange and grilled pork chops with plums
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Black cherry, blueberry, plum, dusty spices, and a touch of India ink. Quite deep and complex. The taste is full bodied dark berries, grippy tannins with some age on them, and a bit of the India ink coming through as well. Perfect for hearty stews.
Devon rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: Wonder full wine. Black currant, vanilla, black pepper. With its age earthy and gamey tones are becoming present. The mouth feel is my favorite part of the wine. The tannins are present but at the same time soft and velvety. I would pair this with roasted Lamb.
Olivier de Maisonneuve rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: very enticing nose, with hints of flowers and leather, mixed with wild herbs. Vibrant, round and tasty palate.Makes me think of some Indian food,or no,more like moroccan cuisine. exotic and yummy
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: All of the grapes in this wine... First impression – tons of cocoa. Black currant, pepper, vanilla. Very rich. Interesting! Pair with: Black bean mole...
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Very earthy and smoky. lots of pepper, tobacco, black currants, rich, warm spices, Smoother than expected on the palate, bright berry, nice tannin to stand up to red meats. Nice acid, long finish. Very nice. (April 2016)
Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Alex: Complex nose here, tobacco, cassis, tree bark, violets and a touch of mulch. Developing into maturity. Sweet black fruits on the palate, lean and sappy, with a herbal accent. Moderate finish but in fine harmony. Impressive at $21. 90pts Priya: Smells like a basket full o berries to me! Tastes drier than that but it's got a nice, full body which is just what I like. 88pts
Wineboy rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: Nice full style without being overdone. Smooth - perhaps in it's peak now. Just a hint of S. African earthiness for complexity.
Philippe Perreault - Sommelier rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review: In this wine they use mainly Bordeaux's grapes, included Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet color! That's a full bodied wine with notes of licorice, black currant, cigar box, smoke and spice. It's very long and complex on the palate. Serve it at 15-17 degrees. Can be aged 6-8 years. Pair it with duck breast with mushroom sauce!
