Wine grapes for Giesen's The Brothers 2016 are hand-harvested and fermented in small batches and matured in a mix of new and neutral French oak barrels. Each vintage the winemaker selects the most expressive parcels of vines to create The Brothers range of wines. Look for bright fruit flavours of crushed raspberry, sour cherry and earthy florals finishing with dried herbs and sweet spice on the palate from this Marlborough, South Island red. Pair with a roast duck.

Pinot Noir food pairings: grilled lamb sirloin with cocoa rub, barbecued duck sausages, grilled pork tenderloin with cauliflower purée and cherry compote, veal chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Marlborough Pinot Noir from Giesen's Brother range. It was aged in a mixture of new and used 300L barrels. It's a stylish representation of NZ Pinot and not too shabby for the price.
Medium ruby colour. Some slight bricking.
Aromas of cherry, pomegranate and raspberries.
That's consistent on the palate. Subtle oaking to it classes things up a smidge. Gives it some toastiness on the backend.
Pair it with some simple prosciutto and fresh figs.
Giesen's The Brothers 2016 is a fleshy, robust and bright Pinot Noir from Marlborough, South Island. Wine grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in small batches and matured in a mix of new and neutral French oak barrels. Lots of ripe crushed raspberry, sour cherry and earthy flavours on the palate, finishing spicy and juicy. Pair with a roast duck. - Community Wine Reviews
