Natalie's Score: 92/100

Towering, deep and complex Italian red wine. This wine is a blend of Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese grapes. It’s a beautiful expression of fleshy ripe blackberries, fig, cassis, violets and sundried tomato. A mouth-coating texture and a lively acidity make for a delicious interplay of textures and flavours across the palate. This is one of Italy’s best producers. This winery is famed vintner Angelo Gaja’s project in Tuscany’s coastal region of Maremma. Thank-you Angelo.

Food pairings: breaded veal cutlets, bean-based dishes, beet salad, leg of lamb, beef with stout, Tuscan bread.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

From the revered winemaker Angelo Gaja, this is a mouth-watering Tuscan blend of Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese. Bright garnet with aromatic cherry, vanilla, violet and spice fragrances, then a rich, layered palate giving cherry, fig, cassis, vanilla, spice and savoury hints. Satiny texture with smooth tannins and food-friendly acidity. A terrific gift wine.
Tasted March 2017
This wine is a blend of Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese grapes. Gaja's Ca' Marcanda Promis (2014) is looking for a rich pasta and meaty tomato sauce to complement the wine's zesty acidity and full, red fruit flavours. This winery is the project of famed vintner Angelo Gaja’s in the Tuscany wine coastal region of Maremma. - Community Wine Reviews
