Big Bordeaux-Style wine. It has austere tannins and oak with notes of cassis and blackcurrant. Decant for 1-2 hours.

Valpolicella Classico food pairings: braised oxtail soup, mushroom and risotto with shaved truffles, veal stew.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Expressive. Medium ruby colour with a garnet hue and intricate aromas of blackberry, cherry, chocolate, spice and earth. Flavours are engaging with blackberry, light skinned plum, red bell pepper, dried herbs, and some peppery heat at the end. Still young but overall, lovely! Let decant for an hour before enjoying. Pair with herb crusted pork chops, sundried tomatoes and olive pesto pasta and washed rind cheeses.
91 points, tasted Oct. 2017
Fumanelli Squarano (2014) is a Valpolicella Classico from Veneto with ripe, red berries, plum, dried herbs and flowers. Tannins are easy, but decant for one hour prior to serving. The Marchesi Fumanelli family has cultivated grapes and produced wines from their estate for 28 generations, dating back to 1470. - Community Wine Reviews
