Full-bodied, towering, tannic and black as night. This has at least a decade ahead of it, why rush the matter? Supple and a velvet mouth-filling texture.

Brunello Di Montalcino food pairings: grilled steak, roast leg of lamb, hard cheese, veal piccata.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I'm giving this Brunello points for it's bright future. Not to say that it's not enjoyable right now because it certainly is but it will be even better in 5 years+. Fuligni estate in Northern Italy is still worked by oxen, vines are old and ageing takes place in Slavonian oak barrels. Premium grapes were used in this 2008 Brunello. The wine is already showing a ruby garnet colour. It's earthy(mushroom), raisin, prune, floral, baking spices and leather aromas and flavours throughout. The acidity is still refreshing and tannins still respectable. This is a perfect steak on the BBQ wine. Have fun and buy 2. Drink one today and one in 3-5 years. Compare notes.
Tasted: March 2015
The 2008 vintage of the Brunello di Montalcino is terrific. Although there was no Riserva edition of this wine produced, this stands alone and uses the best parcels of grapes from 2008. - Community Wine Reviews
