Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Love, love, love the plushy and elegant Fort Berens Estate Winery Red Gold 2020??. Dry, fruit-driven and full-bodied, FB's 2020 Red Gold is deep, dark and delish with ripe dark berries, bitter chocolate, dried tobacco leaf aromas mirrored on the palate with black cherry, cedar brush and cracked black pepper spice with only a touch of sous bois on the palate, all balanced with vibrant acidity and finishing long with a bitter chocolate and vanilla orange creamsicle kiss. The wine's savoury earthiness, bitter chocolate and weight was a spot-on pairing with baked ruffed grouse in Bannock stuffed with wild mushroom, leek and roasted chestnuts. Absolutely delish. Tasted November 2023. Drink or hold to 2028.

This is winery's ultra-premium, flagship wine produced from 67% Cabernet Franc and 33% Merlot harvested from the estate’s Dry Creek Vineyard, planted in 2009. The cultivars were vinified separately and blended only after barrel maturation.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
