Dark fruit and smoke on the nose of this full-bodied Italian red wine. Some grip on the palate from tannins, but this can be helped with 1-2 hours of decanting. Pair with a rare steak.

Barbera D'alba food pairings: meat lovers pizza, pork tenderloin, Mexican dishes, grilled sausage.

Reviews and Ratings

Valérie Dufour - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Barbera is a fun grape and this is a fun wine with great plum, blackberry and spices (clove) aromas. Fontanafredda is a big Piemont producer, but its products are fairly priced and the quality is consistent. Their 30$ Barolo is a good example of that. That wine is full of fruit with nice acidity and melted tannins. Drink it with your pizza or your bowl of pasta.
The vines for this robust Italian red wine are planted in the Langue hills of Piedmont in northern Italy. This wine is made from 1005 Barbera grapes and is aged at least 4 months in 60% large Slavonian or French oak barrels., and 40% in small barrels of 225-300 litres made from French or American wood. Pair with barbecued meats and serve at 17 degrees C. This is a single-vineyard Barbera. - Community Wine Reviews
