White port is a Portuguese wine worth trying when you can, like one from the respected producer Fonseca. It's fortified like other styles of port but is an amber colour, which is as white as port gets, and is completely dry, unlike other styles that are sweet. Aromas of toasted almond and lime with a terrific finish.

White port is dry, not sweet, but still classified as a dessert wine due to it's fortification which puts it at 20% alcohol versus 13% on average for dry still table wines that we usually drink with dinner. Therefore white port is best served with toasted nuts and hard cheese and charceutrie with at the beginning or end of the meal. - Community Wine Reviews
