Natalie's Score: 90/100

There are just over 100 grams per litre of residual sugar in this Portuguese dessert wine, so it's intense and sweet yet balanced on the palate. Lots of fleshy blackberry jam and black plum preserves on the palate and finish. Pair this fortified wine with Black Forest Cake or chocolate cheesecake.

Port food pairings: fresh field berries in cream, Camembert, honey cake, chocolate cookies.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Dark bright ruby colour, showing rich caramelized plum, sweet tobacco and oak aromas. Unctuous palate gives candied dark fruit, vanilla, tobacco and toffee in a very smooth, satiny texture with lingering finish. Enjoy with nuts, strong cheeses, dark chocolate and very strong coffee.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Deep opaque ruby in colour with deep staining and slow moving tears. Intense and pronounced aromas of black cherry, dark plum, prunes and a touch of cola. Flavours are quite enveloping, with deep dark plums, dark fruits, prunes, and a little spiciness. Mouthwatering acidity with a full body, tannins and an extra long luscious finish. This is very good, although it could also age a few years. Pair with blue cheese, gorgonzola, toasted walnuts and pecan pie. - Tasted December 2018
Fonseca Late Bottled Vintage Port (2011) is great value under $20. The LBV is unfiltered and there is just over 100 grams per litre of residual sugar in this Port and perfect pairing to blue cheeses, roasted nuts and dark chocolate. Drink now and for the next 10 years. - Community Wine Reviews
