Green apple and white pear. Love it. Building an inuksuk is now a ritual at the end of harvest for this winery: lifting the heavy stones requires a team effort. Pair with roast turkey and fun. The winery does whole cluster pressing to extract pure flavour, and only of the first 600 litres per tonne of fruit. Ed allows the juice to settle during a long, slow fermentation. The vintage is a blend of two distinct blocks of 21B clone vines now in their early teens as the winery describes them. Finishes with fresh pink grapefruit notes. The wine grapes for Flat Rock Cellars Riesling were sourced from the Twenty Mile Bench on the Niagara Escarpment. This a well-balanced fruit to racy acidity Riesling that could easily hold in cellar for five years or more.

Riesling food pairings: herb rubbed chicken, seafood, shellfish.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

One of my favorite's from a consistent and well known producer. The favorable growing conditions gage way an exceptional finished product. A stunning bouquet - pear, peach, citrus, steel minerality and floral on the nose and palate - well balanced with a great acidity that is lovely on its own or as a superb compliment to herb roasted chicken, and many Asian dishes.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A juicy and delicious Riesling from the Bench. Loads of lime, lemon, yellow apple, hints of stone fruit. Daringly high residual sugar balanced so nicely by the zesty and drying acidity. Decadent! Pair with herb-crusted grilled pork chops.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Bursting with cool climate mouthwatering acidity. Another vintage with honey, canned mandarin orange, and classic Riesling notes. Well balanced, crisp and bright. Paired well with mild green Thai curry with eggplant. Tasted 2016 vintage in October 2018. 91 points. Good value.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Another outstanding example of Ontario made Riesling from Flat Rock Cellars in the Twenty Mile Bench region. Pale straw coloured with green reflections. A beautiful fragrant bouquet. Ever wonder what that elusive freshly opened can of tennis balls aroma could smell like? Try this! Also notes of yellow plum chutney, lemon curd, kerosene and pencil erasers with a hint of fresh tree sapling, white roses and graphite minerals.
Off dry (23gL) Mouthwatering brisk acidity with a medium body and finish with sugar snap peas and white peachy sweetness persisting. Well balanced. Fresh and fruity. Pair with Chicken dumplings, prosciutto and medium bodied cheeses. Anything that has some elevated saltiness will complement the sweet elements perfectly. 90 points. Tasted January 2018
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Stone fruit and floral nose with a fruit explosion on the palate with peach, pear and lemon notes. Great minerality throughout. Reviewed March 2018 at Taste Ontario in Ottawa
