Natalie's Score: 89/100

This bi-varietal wine is a blend of Shiraz (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) blend that spends 8 months in American and French oak, which imparts depth and richness to the wine, along with toasty oak and vanilla smoke aromas. This winery sources all of its grapes from estate vineyards and the harvesting is done by hand. Lots of dark fruit to fill out all the spaces in this wine. Rich and fleshy black and purple plum flavours on this finish along with sweet vanilla spice. A crowd pleaser. Pair with hamburgers dressed with all the fixin's.

Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: braised beef and grilled root vegetables, beef fajitas, pepper steaks.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Aubert rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Amazing how this Shiraz/cab sauv smells just like malbec, but I guess that is the Mendoza terroir that has come to be associated with malbec. On the nose: black cherry, damson plum, mint and heat from 14.5% alcohol. On the palate, this is a very full-bodied wine that unfortunately falls a bit flat on flavour. The aromas have you expecting a fruit bomb but instead on the palate you have light cherry and plum with cedar, mint and black pepper. Surprisingly light on tannins, with medium acidity. Try pairing with sweet potato shepherd's pie.
