Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Fantastic bouquet! Aromas leap from the glass in the form of rich very ripe fruit showing cherries, plums and candied red fruits. More measured on the palate, it offers a fully lovely textured wine. Lots of glycerine smoothness with a touch of tannins that will allow you to age this further with safety. Candied fruits and ripe plums repeat with a lovely herb note in the background and subtle licorice that linger and linger.
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby coloured, dry and full bodied. Pronounced aroma of clean and vibrant fruit; red cherry and cassis with a note of lavender and rose. Fresh fruit taste with some woody notes. Fantastic with hard, mature cheese.
Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Impressive and irresistible. This offering from Ferrer Bobet shows deep ruby and flashes of purple hues in the bottle then delivers a memorable melange of dried herbs, candied fruit, mocha and cedar in the glass before concluding with a long finish.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Gorgeous full bodied Vinyes Velles(Old Vine) red blend from Spain's Priorat D.O.C. Crafted from hand-selected Carignan and Grenache, shows dark fruit, ripe cherry, leather, smoked meat and touch of smoke on a rich, layered palate. Bright fruity notes on the extended finish.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Elegance in a bottle!

This is an old vine blend of Carignane (70%) and Grenache (30%) from Priorat, Spain.

The price may seem high but if you see what goes into making this gorgeous wine it makes it seem like a steal. Grown on steep vineyards the grapes are hand picked and then sorted berry by berry and then transferred by gravity to tanks for fermentation. Ferrer Bobet practices strict organic viticulture with no insecticides, fungicides and herbicides,

Colour is opaque . Aromas are complex; cherry, spice and vanilla and a vein of underlying chocolate. Well integrated tannins with balanced acidity. Gorgeous flavours of ripe sweet cherry and white pepper. A long finish of red fruit and oak.

I"m not sure I'd pair this wine with anything - it was delicious all on it's own!

Simon Chen rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

70% Carignan and 30% Grenache. The color is dark but you get fresh, mint, herbal, star-anise aromas on the nose. Velvety, lush, but not too much heat on the palate. 15+ sec lingering on the finish
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Located in the Priorat Valley of Spain, Ferrer Bobet produces amazing wine. The 2015 Vinyes Velles, made from Grenache and Carignan, offers delicious aromas of blueberry, raspberry, rose, wet gravel, leather, smoke, mocha and cedar. Fresh and elegant, the wine’s excellent structure will please the Spanish wine lover. Full-bodied with long and charming finish, this Spaniard will hit the spot with flavors of cherry, strawberry, violet, new leather, tobacco and cedar. Enjoy!
Colette Martin rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Wow! Deep ruby color. Aromas of dark berries, eucalyptus, herbs and leather. On the palate the goodness continues with ripe blueberries, herbs, smokey notes and dark chocolate. Long lingering finish.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Lovely! Aromas of red cherry, dried herbs, mint, and some smoky, leathery notes and warm spice. Full bodied and round, with red fruit, and great balance. Enjoy with a grilled steak.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Elegant structure and beautifully balanced.
Aromas of dark red berries, vanilla, and a hint of mint carry through to a velvety mouthfeel, and a long spicy finish.
Wonderful with a variety of meals, especially cured meat and cheese boards.
Enjoy now or cellar for a few more years.
Tasted November 2019.
