Featherstone Onyx 2020 is a vegan-friendly red wine blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon with grapes sourced from the Niagara Peninsula, Ontario wine region. Onyx 2020 is deep, rich and savoury with aromas and flavours of ripe red berry and dark fruits, plum, cassis, fine herbs, cracked black pepper and sweet dried tobacco spice fresh and lingering on the palate. Nice now through 2035 to enjoy with red meats or Portobello mushrooms from the grill.

Food pairings: roast duck, bison burgers from the grill, roast boar sausages.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Made only in exceptional vintages, which 2020 was in the Niagara region. Blended from 33% each of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Aromas of dark cherry and raspberry, along with hints of leather, sous bois, and cedar. Medium-full bodied with bright acidity and soft, yet grippy tannins on the palate. Fruit notes are rich and ripe with hints of tart cranberry. Other notes of cedar and leather linger on a lenghty finish. Enjoy with prime rib.
