Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A refined Spaniard from the Rioja Valley, the Faustino I Gran Reserva 2008 is made from Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo. Complex and structured, the wine exposes aged color and delicious aromas of dried blackberry, fig, mustard seed, pastrami, parmesan cheese, cigar box and oak. Medium-bodied, the Faustino I shows polished tannins and pleasant acidity. Palate: sour cherry, fig, black pepper, earth note, cinnamon and cedar. A food-friendly wine that will charm any amateur of Rioja wine. Enjoy!
From the Rioja wine region, Faustino I Gran Reserva 2008 is a full-bodied, Tempranillo-driven spicy red produced by Bodegas Gaustino Martinez. Spicy on the nose as well with leather, oak spice and vanilla aromas. Bright with dark cherry, plum, earthy, spicy and vanilla flavours on the palate balanced with food-friendly acidity. Pair with roast chicken. The 2008 vintage spent over two years in French and American oak barrels and three years in bottle prior to its release. - Community Wine Reviews
