Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby colour. Pronounced aromas of cherry, blackberry, light skinned plum, tobacco, cedar and nutmeg. Flavours are full of blackberry, cranberry, raspberry, bay leaves and a peppermint herb and spice finish. High acidity, medium plus body, tannins and finish. A great pairing for salami, medium cheeses and olives.
87 points - tasted January 2018
Produced by famed winemaker, Elisabetta Geppetti, Fattoria's Le Pupille in Morellino di Scansano (2015) is possibly the best vintage yet. The wine is rich, medium-bodied, balanced showing elegance and finesse with blackberry, dark chocolate and savoury spice on the palate. Tannins are smooth and rounded. Elisabetta Geppetti was the first woman to achieve the award from the German magazine Der Feinschmecker and Wein Gourmet of "Winemaker of the Year". - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
