Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This Nebbiolo clone, Picotener, which is apparently difficult to cultivate, has been revived in Langhe. It opens with bright fruit on the nose and a hint of savoury thyme. It is smooth with subdued but fresh fruit on the palate and firm tannins. Nice balance, good structure. Think of Barolo but fresher, more vibrant and without the barnyard. This is a very enjoyable pour. Pair with spaghetti or spicy pasta dishes. Drink now or cellar 2-5 years. Tasted February 2020. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

From northern Italy, this medium-bodied Nebbiolo (sub variety is the almost extinct Picotener), has aromas of black cherry and spice with cherries on the palate too. Medium acidity and tannins with a long, dry finish with hints of chocolate. Decant or age further. With all this cherry? pair with lamb or tomato based pastas. Tasted Februray 2020.
From the Piedmont wine region, Enrico Serafino's 2017 Picotener Nebbiolo is produced from Picotener, a sub-variety of Nebbiolo. The wine is spicy on the nose and palate with earthy florals, tart cherry, cocoa flavours, structured with fine-grained tannins. Enrico Serafino's study of the sub-variety indicates Picotener is low production/yielding, low vegetative vigour, resistant to harsh climates and produces aromatic and intensely coloured wines. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
