A full-bodied, generous red wine with aromas of black fruit and dark spice. The cool-climate of Cafayate is perfect for this ripe, but edgy Cabernet with solid structure. Pair with hearty meat dishes.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: roast beef with all the trimmings, gourmet burgers, tourtière.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Aromas of currant, plum, and blackberry, with oak, spice and some dried herbaceous notes. Full bodied and smooth on the palate, with drying tannins which smooth out with some time, lots of ripe berry and dark fruit notes, as well as some dried herb notes on the finish. Enjoy with marinated flank steak.
From the Cafayate Valley, Salta, El Esteco 1947 2018 Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon is an earthy, full-bodied red wine with a mouthful of blackberry, dark plum and spice with great acidity for food. Tannins are chewy. Decant two hours prior to pouring it with a game stew, or give it three years in cellar. Try in 2023. - Community Wine Reviews
