El Esteco 1946 2019 Malbec is sourced from Old Vines Malbec planted in the Calchaquí Valley in 1946. Dry, full-bodied and vibrant on the palate with bright red berry, blueberry, plum and savoury herbs. Tannins are fresh. The wine was aged in concrete tank with no oak or wood treatment. Drink or hold.

Malbec food pairings: well-marbled steaks from the grill, farmer's pork chops, meat-lover's pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Bernard rated this wine as 94/100
L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

A fantastic wine; it saw no oak which helped ensure a fresh and vibrant fruit forward red; a pleasure to drink. Great care was taken to showcase the rich flavour from the fruit of the old vines; including hand harvesting and fermenting in a neutral vessel. Intense aromas of blackberry, blueberry, blueberry, black plum and cherry. The wine is dry, full bodied and with balanced acidity; tannins are smooth, even velvety. Gorgeous fruit is repeated on the palate; more blackberry, blueberry, black plum, and cherry. Great with Edam cheese or on its own.
