Reviews and Ratings

Alana L rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Crisp and fresh (fermented in stainless steel, 90% of the lots aged on 30% new French oak with gentle lees stirring) this is a refreshing, crisp, dry, balanced Chardonnay that breaks the ‘California Chardonnays are overly oaked’ stereotype with just enough creaminess. Fruit forward (tropical melon, peach, pineapple, Meyer lemon) on the nose and continuing on the palate with more fruit and spice (anise), hints of cream and vanilla, it has a zesty acidity that makes your mouth water and a refreshing medium plus finish. It’s bright, slightly mineral, juicy and highly drinkable.

Would be lovely with a fresh and creamy Cobb salad, snow crab with butter or a savoury cheddar tart.

California leads the world in Chardonnay, its most planted variety and was the first in the world to bottle Chardonnay under varietal labeling, establishing the practice for all of the New World, and its unique clonal selections for the variety are now grown around the world.

Tasted as part of the "California Wine Month: Classics of California Chardonnay", an interactive panel discussion and tasting considering California’s classics of Chardonnay, its unique history, and its range of styles from different parts of the state; hosted by writer and speaker, Elaine Chukan Brown and California Wines and featuring panelists Ivo Jeramez, Director of Winemaking, Grgich Hills; Niki Wente, Fifth Generation Winemaker, Viticulture, Wente Vineyards and Kristen Barnhisel, Winemaker - White Wines, J.Lohr.

Cheers!

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
