Sweet mocha coffee aromas on the nose that is followed by smokier espresso on the palate. Full-bodied, smooth and deeply, weirdly attractive. Pair with smoked meats or breakfast.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Aromatic with dark red berries, plums and mocha. Delightful palate gives same, with delicious choclate & coffee. Bright acidity and long mocha finish.

Wineboy rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Big aromas of very ripe black fruit along with significant smoke, and coffee notes. This wine starts sweet but finishes dry, with the power of fruit growing along with the growing smoke and oak flavours. Excellent length.
The word "Doolhof" translates to "labyrinth" in Afrikaans language, and is a nod to the story of Theseus and Medea in Greek mythology. Ariadne, King Minos of Crete's daughter, fell in love with Theseus, the Athenian hero, who travelled to Crete to slay the Minotaur. She defied her father and assisted Thesus in escaping from the labyrinth. They set sail for Athens, but she was abandoned on the island of Naxos where she forever pined for her lost love. - Community Wine Reviews
