Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This wine is funky and delicious in both name and flavour profile. At sub-$25, it certainly earns its keep. Yet this is a wine best consumed by itself or with a little nibble of smoked or cured game and nothing more. The notes of macerated fruit skin, blackberry, menthol, coffee soaked cocoa nib, deer jerky, soy sauce, dried herbs and decayed flowers. This wine is truly fascinating. 93 Points.
Produced by McPherson Wines, from the Grampians in the Victoria wine region, Don't Tell Gary 2016 is a juicy and full-bodied Shiraz with dark plum, berry and spicy flavours on the palate. The cheeky name refers to a time when winemaker Joanne Nash purchased some A+-grade Shiraz grapes from a grower without first consulting general manager and group CFO Gary, opting instead to beg forgiveness after creating the amazing wine she knew the grapes would bring. The best grapes should get the best treatment, and so she purchased some new French oak - again without telling Gary and so the name stuck on this tasty, smooth and generous Shiraz. But don't tell Gary. Enjoy now and for the next 10 years. - Community Wine Reviews
