Great acidity for food on this full-bodied Aglianico red wine from the Campania wine region. Ripe blackberries, cherry, meaty, savoury herb and flinty flavours finishing long on the palate. Pair with a roast leg of lamb, pork roast. Great value! Enjoy now and for the next three years.

Aglianico food pairings: vegetarian pizza, rich tomato sauce and pasta, meat lasagne.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Vibrant cherry notes on the nose and palate. Good weight. Smooth drinking with very fine tannins. Serve with spaghetti and meatballs. Tasted January 2020. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A full-bodied Aglianico from Campania, Italy that has blackberry aromas. It leads into a dark fruit palate that has earthiness. Well-balanced and the high tannins have me recommend further aging (several years) or several hours of decanting. Serve with pastas in a meat saurce or savoury dishes with vegetables and red meat. Tasted January 2020.
Donnachiara Irpinia 2017 Aglianico is a smooth, full-bodied toasty red from the Campania wine region. Juicy and earthy with lush ripe blackberry, fresh fine herbs flavours finishing long on the palate. Tannins are silky and there is bright acidity for food. Pair with a Margherita pizza. - Community Wine Reviews
