Natalie's Score: 90/100

Sourced from steeply-terraced and select vineyards, this Austrian Riesling with grapes sourced from the Wachau enjoys moderating temperature from both the Danube River and cool Atlantic Ocean. Wachau wines have three classification levels: Steinfeder for wines up to 11.5% alcohol level; Federspiel for wines between 11.5–12.5% and Smaragd that must have a minimum of 12.5% alcohol level. This wine was made in the Federspiel style to an alcohol level between 11.5 and 12.5% abv. Look for ripe pear, peach and soft orange flavours matched by crisp acidity. Pair with a Swiss fondue.

Riesling food pairings: pork knuckles and sauerkraut, pork roast, mild curries.

Reviews and Ratings

From Domäne Wachau Terrassen, Federspiel Riesling 2018 is a mouth-watering cool-climate Riesling with lime florals, peach, apricot and flinty mineral flavours on the palate. Extra dry with riveting acidity, pair with classic German cuisine such as cheese fondue, roast pork, schupfnudeln and sauerkraut. - Community Wine Reviews

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
