A dark, brooding Heathcliff kind of wine with aromas of black fruit, tar and smoke. This is a blend of 50% Grenache, 35% Mouvedre and the rest Syrah. The wine was aged in concrete tanks and stainless steel. Pair with a rare steak.

Food pairings: beef tenderloin, prime rib roast, gourmet burgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Wineboy rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A nice older style Rhone wine featuring a complex nose and some structure. Lovely garrigue (look it up) bouquet which is increasingly rare to find. Solid structure so this wine must be aged to get the most out of it. The beauty is you could go as long as 5-6 years from now. Ageworthy wine at a great price - fantastic.
Domaine Les Grands Bois Cuvee Maximilien 2015 is a full-bodied Rhone red wine blend of 50% Grenache, 35% Mourvèdre with the balance in Syrah. This dry, fruity and fresh wine was aged in concrete and stainless steel. Look for fresh blackberries, blue florals and light garrigue herbs on this drink now red. - Community Wine Reviews
