Reviews and Ratings

Alana L rated this wine as 78/100 with the following review:

Perfect fall days are perfect for... local winery tours! Today’s visits included Domaine du Ridge in St-Armand where we tasted their Clos Du Maréchal 2018, Le Bâtonnier 2018 and L’Honorable 2017; Vignoble de l’Ardennais in Stanbridge East where we tasted their Vert-Bois 2017 and finally Vignoble de la Bauge in Brigham where we tasted both the Rassemble-Heure and Terrø.

Clos du Maréchal combines three Quebec varietals, Maréchal Foch, Lucy Kuhlman and De Chaunac. Light yet still generous it has mineral, floral and dark fruit on the nose, with a slight touch of spice, is a purplish red in colour and has a nice level of acidity and relatively short finish on the palate. Benefitting, as all wineries in this region of Quebec, from the Champlain Valley micro-climate, wines from Domaine du Ridge have a level of freshness that characterizes the terroir here between warm, humid summers and glacial winters. Would pair well with a charcuterie board for an apéritif.

Why the legal names (Maréchal, Bâtonnier and l’Honorable)? Denis Paradis, owner and winemaker behind Domaine du Ridge, was a lawyer and Liberal Minister. A perfect fall wine enjoyed outdoors with the fall foliage at this pittoresque winery.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
