This Loire Valley winery Domaine d'Orfeuilles was established in 1947. This is a lovely Vouvray with aromas of apple blossom, honeysuckle and baking spices. The vines are planted in limestone soils with a south-east orientation. Pair with goat's cheese or mild curries.

Vouvray food pairings: grilled chicken breast, sautéed pork tenderloin, roast duck in mandarin sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Vouvray is a tiny commune east of Tours, in the Loire Valley. They utilize very special porous touffeau soils to produce unique and long lived sparkling and still Chenin Blanc. This example is still and done in a sweeter style ( some are dry).
This one is young and has a pale yellow hue. Aromatocally, there are classic honey, wax, and yellow apple aromas to it.
One of Chenin's trademarks is ripping acidity, which is apparent here. More citrus and apple, with faint whiffs of honey and oat coming thrugh on the finish.
This wil lage and develop well in the midterm. Expect it to mellow out and integrate those soft, inviting aromas with the aggressive palate.
It's pair really well with cauliflower or corn chowder. This is a fun one for harder cheeses too.
Domaine d'Orfeuilles was founded in 1947. Domaine D'orfeuilles 2015 is produced from 100% Chenin Blanc and is medium-sweet on the palate matched by brilliant acidity. Slightly spicy on the nose, there are notes of lanolin, honey, lemon zest, dusty chalk and ripe pear on the palate with a lingering citrus and spice finish. Nicely done. Pair with lemon and Dijon roast chicken. - Community Wine Reviews
