A full-bodied matured Bordeaux red wine blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Petit Verdot grapes. Aromas of blackberry, cassis and anise with cigar box. Decant 1 hour and pair with a rare steak.

Saint-Julien food pairings: grilled steak, bison burgers, meaty pizza topped with more meat.

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Saint-Julien 2006 was crafted by Chateau in Saint-Julien de Beychevelle, which was ranked Grand Cru Classé in 1855. This Left Bank wine shows great structure for its age and an elegant bouquet of dark cherry, plum, rose, cigar, leather and oak. Made mainly from Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with Merlot and Petit Verdot, Saint-Julien 2006 is supple with lovely tannins, a medium body and a long smooth finish. Flavours of dark cherry, plum, fern, tobacco, dark chocolate, leather, mushroom and oak develop into nice complexity. Made from a powerhouse AOC, Saint-Julien 2006 provides a glimpse of a Grand Cru Classé type of wine. Enjoy!
Domaine de la solitude 2006 is a dry and rich, full-bodied red blend with a nose of ripe plum, cedar spice, herbs and meaty notes. The Bordeaux estate is one of the oldest family-owned and operated estates in the world, established around 1450 by the Barberini family and switched hands to the Lancon family who have been making wine at Domaine de la Solitude for more than 500 years. A building on this winery's property was once used as a hunting lodge by the French philosopher, Montesquieu. - Community Wine Reviews
